IFRS Spring Update - Johannesburg

The 2019 Spring IFRS Update training will consist of two sessions.

Session 1: IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts

  • Our insurance industry experts will focus on helping you understand the practical issues of implementing the new insurance standard. We’ll discuss frequently-asked questions on the new standard in more detail and share updates from the latest exposure draft and the topical discussion from the TRG, which will shed light on the implementation process.

Session 2: Hot topics

  • Practical application issues when applying the new leasing standard (IFRS 16)
  • A new interpretation, IFRIC 23, sheds light on how to account for uncertain tax positions. We’ll provide some insights into where these uncertainties might arise, and how to account for uncertain tax positions.
  • JSE thematic review process key learning points on IFRS 15 and IFRS 9
  • Inter-bank rate (IBOR) replacement and its potential impact
  • Alternative performance measures in light of the JSE Listing requirements with Practice Note 4
  • Basics on hyperinflation accounting
  • Unpack how cloud computing costs and investment in cloud computing should be accounted for
Both sessions will be held on the same day in a different venue.  Should you want to attend both sessions, you will need to book for two separate dates.
