In today’s fast-evolving governance landscape, directors face increasing scrutiny, complexity and responsibility. Whether newly appointed or seasoned, every director must continuously upskill to remain effective, informed and resilient. This two-part training programme is designed to equip directors with the essential knowledge, strategic insights and ethical frameworks needed to lead confidently and compliantly. This offering is available to the public on set dates and can also be tailored to meet specific organisational needs.

What to expect – Day 1: Governance, legislation and tax

Day 1 sets the foundation for effective directorship. Participants begin with a deep dive into corporate governance, exploring board composition, independence, and the principles of King IV and V. The session highlights the critical distinction between strategic oversight and operational involvement, helping directors understand their role in driving integrated thinking and reporting.

What to expect – Day 2: Ethics, leadership and risk

Day 2 shifts focus to the human and strategic dimensions of leadership. The morning begins with a session on ethical leadership, exploring decisionmaking frameworks and the link between ethics and long-term value creation. Next, participants engage with the “six paradoxes of leadership,” a forward-looking framework that challenges traditional leadership models and helps directors assess their own leadership styles. The final session covers risk, compliance and assurance. Directors will gain clarity on the Three Lines of Defence, enterprise risk management and operational resilience through scenario planning. This equips them to navigate uncertainty and ensure robust governance structures.
