The sixth edition of the eReadiness Survey analyses the trajectory of e‑mobility through c.18,000 consumer interviews across 28 countries. It introduces a four‑dimension eReadiness Index—Government incentives, Infrastructure, Supply, and Demand—built from 14 KPIs with weighting adjusted to market maturity. Readiness is highest in Northwestern Europe and Southeast Asia, with Norway, Singapore, the Netherlands, and China among the leaders.

Consumers cluster into three groups: EV Owners, EV Prospects (planning to buy within five years), and EV Sceptics. Key purchase drivers are lower operating costs, convenience, and driving experience; the main barriers remain charging duration, battery lifetime, and limited range. Expectations are tightening: many consumers view 20–40 minutes as acceptable charging time, and a driving range of roughly 380–450 km would satisfy half of global demand. Notably, 52% of Prospects would accept 300–400 km if they could charge in under 30 minutes.

Ownership patterns reflect growing confidence

Satisfaction among EV Owners is high, and in countries with the highest BEV penetration, 75–80% are unwilling to return to ICE vehicles. Convenience is reshaping behavior: 52% of Owners would buy their next EV online, 54% purchased home charging bundled with the car and another 28% bought it separately, and most charge at home two to three times a week. Over 60% would consider a used EV next, with battery warranty and State of Health certification as crucial enablers.

The way forward calls for coordinated action

OEMs should focus on cost‑optimised innovation, portfolio diversification, and affordable entry‑level EVs. Stakeholders need to expand fast‑charging infrastructure, provide clear regulation, and deploy targeted incentives to support first‑time buyers. Together, these steps can convert strong consumer interest into sustained adoption at scale.
